BACKGROUND: Venous stenting has become a promising treatment for various sinus stenosis. However, it is not without its own set of risks. CASE DESCRIPTION: We reported de novo formation of dural arteriovenous fistula poststenting for venous sinus stenosis in a patient with pseudotumor cerebri. Multiple factors, including subclinical thrombus formation, sinus wall injury by stent placement, and up-regulated inflammatory factors, may contribute to its pathogenesis. CONCLUSIONS: This case indicates that physicians may need to be aware of this rare complication, which can be managed without resumption of pseudotumor cerebri symptoms.
