摘要：
Aim: To assess patient needs for nursing care and associated levels of satisfaction among inpatients in a general hospital in Beijing, China. Methods: Participants of this descriptive study were inpatients of a general hospital. 200 questionnaires were distributed to inpatients, and 191 questionnaires were returned. Results: Inpatient needs for nursing care were high. The physical needs of inpatients were related to their age and the wards they occupied. Inpatients were generally satisfied with nursing care, but their satisfaction with the need for the company of family members varied between different wards. The ability of inpatients to care for themselves was related to their satisfaction with nursing care. Inpatient satisfaction was positively related to the priority given to nursing care requirements. Conclusion: Nurses need to satisfy the different inpatient needs for nursing care to better promote patient health. © 2008 Scientific Communications International Limited.
