Tumors of the lateral ventricles are more common in children than in adults. 39 such cases under the age of 15 are reported. Pathologically most of them were ependymomas, astrocytomas, papillomas of the choroid plexus and meningiomas. Half of the tumors were located in the intraventricular trigone. In 49% of the patients there were mild signs or pyramidal tract; in 18% intermittent attacks of headache and vomiting were present. The treatment was surgical removal of the tumor. Before the resection, the tumor pedicle should be properly ligated in order to reduce hemorrhage. Stepwise resection of the main tumor mass should be considered in the operation. The operative mortality in this series was 18%.
