摘要：
Objective: To investigation the normal outer-diameter of appendix in Chinese children with different ages (from 1 to 6 years). Methods: Totally 838 normal children (aged 1~6 years old) who underwent ultrasonography were enrolled. Taking ileocecum as the anatomical landmark, the appendix was displayed with ultrasound, and the maximal-outer-diameter (MOD) of appendix was measured. The differences of MOD of normal appendix in different ages were analyzed statistically with independent sample t-test and ANOVA. Results: There was significant difference of MOD of normal appendix with different ages. The upper limit of 95% unilateral medical reference in children aged ≥1 and <3 years was 0.56 cm, as well as those aged ≥3 and ≤6 years was 0.61 cm. Conclusion: The characteristics of physical development of Chinese children should be fully considered when measuring appendix diameter with ultrasound for diagnosis of appendicitis.
