OBJECTIVE: To study the pharmacokinetics of ginkgolide A(GA) and ginkgolide B (GB). METHODS: The Ginkgo biloba extract(GBE) injection was administered by intravenous infusion in 10 volunteers and GC-MS was used to determine the concentrations of GA and GB in plasma. RESULTS: The dispositions of both GA and GB were conformed to two-compartment model. t 1/2 of GA and GB were 3.73 h and 4.25 h, respectively. The AUC of GA and GB were 68 305.10 ng·min·mL -1 and 19 714.69 ng·min·mL -1 respectively. CONCLUSION: The GC-MS assay was sensitive for the determination of GA and GB in human blood. The pharmacokinetic parameters of GA and GB from 10 volunteers were similar to those reported.
