Aim: To evaluate the correlation of hemorrhage of digestive tract (HDT) after intravenous thrombolystic therapy in cerebral infarction patients with the size and location of focus. Methods: Totally thirty-one patients with acute cerebral infarction, who were treated with intravenous thrombolystic therapy at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital University of Medical Sciences from October 2004 to April 2005, were selected. The group one included 15 patients with HDT (+) as hemorrhage group, and the 16 patients without HDT (-) as non-hemorrhage group. MR image of skull was routinely obtained with 1.5 T superconductive equipment, and the MR image was analyzed by two neuroradiologists to define the region of infarcted focus and judge whether it was new focus or not. The size of infarcted focus was determined in T2WI image with Scion software, twice in each measure value, and the mero-radiologist an value was recorded. After the measure value of volume of infarcted focus was performed with standardization disposal, and then added to gain the total volume of infarcted focus of each patient. The correlation of five clinical indexes (with or without coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, infection and prognosis) and 15 measure indexes (total volume of infarcted focus, total volume of new infarcted focus, total volume of old infarcted focus and so on) with HDT was evaluated with rank sum test of two independent samples at last. Results: Totally 31 patients were involved in the analysis of results. 1 Coronary atherosclerotic heart disease and infectious patients in the hemorrhage group were significantly more than those in the non hemorrhage group (P=0.011). 2 The difference in total volume of infarcted focus (no matter new or old) in the hemorrhage or non-hemorrhage groups, volume of infarcted focus of each region was insignificant (P > 0.05). Conclusion: 1 Whether combined with HDT or not is associated with coronary artery disease or infection after intravenous thrombolystic therapy in cerebral infarction patients. 2 There are no correlation of the cerebral infarct combining with HDT with the volume and location of infarcted focus, no matter the infarcted focus is new or old.
