EditordWe read with interest the study by Barbosa and colleagues.1 This study pooled information on efficacy, safety, and satisfaction outcomes between remimazolam, a novel sedative, and propofol in sedation for gastrointestinal endoscopy. Remimazolam was found to have a superior safety profile compared with propofol for sedating adults undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy. This was observed in both younger and older populations.
