Letter regarding Li et al. "Prognostic impact of late gadolinium enhancement by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in patients with non-ischaemic dilated cardiomyopathy"
Late gadolinium enhancement Contrast dose Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging This article interested us min after injection of 0.2 mmol/kg of contrast agent at 1.5T. Their results show LGE using CMR is an independent predictor of increased all-cause mortality in DCM patients. [1] . The authors used late gadolinium enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR) technique to assess the association between different patterns of LGE and mortality in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). In their study, LGE-CMR was performed 15 to 20 Previous studies show contrast dose of ≥ 0.2 mmol/kg is effective for LGE-CMR, and 0.1 mmol/kg is not enough min after injection of 0.15 mmol/kg of contrast agent at 3.0T 50%) [2,3] . In recent study, Yang et al. confirm LGE-CMR can be performed 10 [4] . Lower dose of contrast means a lower cost and decreased side effects, and shorter delay time means shorter examination time, which is crucial for patients with impaired heart and renal function [5] . In this article, LGE-CMR can be performed using this new scan protocol for DCM patients with systolic dysfunction (left ventricular ejection fraction < [1] .
