摘要:
The present study was conducted to construct structure connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC) between different hippocampal subregions and the whole brain based on structural and function Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and to explore the changes in hippocampal subregions structural and functional connectivity in the different stages of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). 117 participants (75 female, 42 male) aged 60-88 years were recruited from the Sino-Longitudinal Study on Cognitive Decline in China, including normal cognitive (NC), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and AD dementia patients. Subjects were grouped into 68 amyloid β (Aβ)-negative normal cognitive participants (NC-), 29 Aβ-positive normal cognitive participants (NC+), and 20 Aβ-positive cognitively impaired (including MCI and AD) participants (CI+). Hippocampal subregions SC and FC maps were constructed and the relationship among hippocampal subregions connectivity, Aβ deposition, and neurocognitive performance was also analyzed. We found that, compared to the NC- group, the NC+ group showed enhanced SC mainly in the default, limbic, somatomotor, and visual networks, and decreased SC in subcortical nuclei, ventral attention network, and other subdivisions of visual networks, while FC was mainly increased in the limbic, somatomotor, and visual networks. In the CI+ group, SC showed an increasing trend between the hippocampal subregions and the whole brain, while FC showed a decreasing trend mainly in the limbic, dorsal attention, somatomotor, and visual networks. These findings provide important insights into the neurobiological mechanisms underlying hippocampal connectivity in AD, with potential implications for understanding disease progression and predicting clinical conversion.Copyright © 2025.
