OBJECTIVE: To establish a method of determining the blood concentrations of ginkgolides and to study their pharmacokinetics. METHODS: GC-MS was used to determine the blood concentration of ginkgolides. RESULTS: Their disposition fitted two-compartment model parameters of ginkgolide A and B were t(1/2) 89.53 min and 57.40 min; AUC 113.31 and 32.69 μg · ml · min-1, respectively. CONCLUSION: This GC-MS assay may be a sensitive and specific method to determine ginkgolide in human blood.
