摘要:
Adult spinal deformity(ASD)is a complex disease that can cause serious damage to the patients.Surgical correction has been shown to be effective in improving the spinal deformity and elevating the quality of life(QoL)of these patients.Given the relatively high risk of complications associated with corrective surgery in ASD and the great heterogeneity of the disease itself,it is crucial to develop powerful tools for treatment selection, surgical planning, and prediction of clinical outcomes. With the advent of the era of digital medicine and big data, orthopedic surgeons have begun to use artificial intelligence(AI)technology to process unprecedented amounts of data, thereby providing new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of ASD.These more accurate and personalized prediction tools can do a better job in predicting the risk of major complications, readmission rates, and reoperation rates for patients after ASD correction, allowing targeted clinical intervention. In addition, artificial intelligence is being used to classify ASD to help surgeons identify characteristics of different patient subgroups.Taken together, the AI technology will help surgeons optimize the clinical practice of ASD to better meet patients'individual needs and create more personalized healthcare.
